New Delhi, November 24:Ā Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Sunday endorsedĀ Manoj Tiwari as Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate for the Delhi assembly elections 2020. Manoj Tiwari, who represents North East Delhi seat in Lok Sabha, is president of BJP's Delhi unit. Hardeep Singh Puri earlier clarifiedĀ that he has no intentions to run for the Delhi Chief Minister's post.
"We are going to fight assembly elections under the leadership of Manoj Tiwari JiĀ and we will rest only after making him the chief minister," Puri said while addressing a gathering of BJP members.Ā HeĀ also hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the quality of water in the national capital. "Arvind Kejriwal Ji says water in Delhi is not really dirty. If this is the case, he should drink one litre of water. He will then realise if it was safe or not," Puri added.Ā Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections 2020, Centre Moves to Grant Ownership Rights to Unauthorised Colony Residents.
Last week, the Consumer Affairs Ministry released the second phase of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) study, which stated that Delhi, along with Kolkata and Chennai, failed in almost 10 out of 11 quality parameters for drinking water.Ā The test results have snowballed into a major political row ahead of the assembly elections, with the BJP using them to target the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi.
Kejriwal hit back by questioning the tests, saying sample collection locations either did not exist or belonging to members of rival political group.Ā During the first phase, the samples of drinking water were drawn from 11 different locations across Delhi and in the second phase, 10 samples were drawn from 10 locations of 20 state capitals.
