Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde has been admitted to a private hospital in Thane after developing a high viral fever and suffering from physical exhaustion. Party sources said Shinde is under the care of a team of specialist doctors and his condition is stable. According to Shiv Sena sources, Shinde's health deteriorated on Friday amid an intense work schedule and the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature. Despite experiencing a high fever and severe weakness, he initially continued attending official engagements before his condition worsened, prompting his admission to a hospital in Thane.
Doctors are monitoring his condition, and party leaders have said there is no cause for immediate concern. Exhaustive Political Schedule Cited
Party leaders attributed Shinde's illness to prolonged physical exertion and a demanding political schedule over the past several days. According to Shiv Sena sources, he had been involved in extensive political activities, including meetings, administrative responsibilities and travel linked to recent political developments in Maharashtra.
The health setback comes shortly after Shinde played a key role in political outreach efforts that saw several leaders from rival factions join his party, requiring frequent travel and back-to-back engagements. Political Programme Rescheduled
Shinde's hospitalisation also affected scheduled party events. A programme in Thane to induct Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Shubhangi Patil into Shinde's Shiv Sena faction had to be postponed after news of his illness emerged.
The induction ceremony was later conducted in his absence, with his son and Member of Parliament, Dr. Shrikant Shinde, along with senior party leaders, overseeing the event.
Leaders Wish Him Speedy Recovery
Following news of his hospitalisation, party workers and political leaders expressed concern and wished the Deputy Chief Minister a speedy recovery. Shiv Sena leaders reiterated that his condition is stable and that he is responding well to treatment.
Officials have not yet indicated when Shinde is expected to resume official duties, with doctors advising him to take adequate rest before returning to his regular schedule.
