Bhopal, September 5: Political sops have taken over in Madhya Pradesh, which is set to go to polls later this year. The Madhya Pradesh Congress has promised to build 23006 cow shelters (gaushalas) in the state if it comes to power in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018. The MP Congress announced setting up of cow shelters in a tweet today.

"The BJP spread fear and there were killings in the name of gauraksha. We will build a gaushala in every Gram Panchayat and save cows," MP Congress chief Kamal Nath said.

Earlier on Monday, the Madhya Pradesh unit of Congress issued a diktat for ticket aspirants in the poll-bound state. For those wishing to be listed among the 230 candidates whom the party will field in the upcoming assembly elections, it is a prerequisite to have a substantial social media following.

As per the MP Congress document, the party has set forth two conditions for ticket aspirants – they must have at least 15,000 likes on their Facebook page, along with 5,000 followers on Twitter. The aspirant should also be part of several local WhatsApp groups.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi had last month approved a 32-member election committee for the party's Madhya Pradesh unit, ahead of the state assembly polls due later this year. The panel has top Congress leaders Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Digvijaya Singh as members. Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Ajay Singh "Rahul", party MPs Kantilal Bhuria, Vivek Tankha and Rajmani Patel are also part of the committee, AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said.
