New Delhi, May 10: The campaigning period for phase 6 of Lok Sabha Elections concluded on Friday at 5 pm. In this phase, 979 candidates are in the fray for 59 Lok Sabha seats spread across seven states. According to the Election Commission's data over 10 crore voters would decide the fate of candidate in over 1 lakh 13 thousand polling stations.

As per to the communication, the EC had set up 1,13,167 polling station in Bihar (8), Haryana (10), Jharkhand (4), Madhya Pradesh (8), Uttar Pradesh (14), West Bengal (8) and Delhi (7). Around 189 candidates - out of 979 - have criminal records and 311 are crorepatis. The polling will take place from 7 am in the morning till 6 pm on Sunday. Among the major candidates in fray for this Phase 6 polls include - Union ministers Radha Mohan Singh, Menaka Gandhi, Dr Harsh Vardhan and others. Also, other prominent leaders include Deepak Adhikari (Dev), Sheila Dikshit, Bhupinder Singh Hudda, Gautam Gambhir, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijay Singh, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Amiya Patra, and others.

Citing violence, EVM malfunctioning, poll rigging allegations and others, the Election Commission has made adequate security arrangements and deployed an ample number of central companies for peaceful polling in the constituencies.
