This will be the first Mann ki Baat to take place after the Pulwama terror attack, that resulted in the loss of lives of over 40 CRPF jawans after a suicide bomber named Adil Ahmed Dar rammed his explosives laden SUV into a vehicle part of the CRPF convoy moving from Jammu to Srinagar. Terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad, which operated from Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack. Relations between India and Pakistan are at an all time low. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in his address on Pulwama said that if India attacks or wages war on Pakistan, Pakistan will retaliate.

In the wake of the Pulwama attack, the Centre decided to deploy additional 100 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) on an urgent basis in Jammu and Kashmir, the MHA has said on Saturday. A Home Ministry letter on Friday asked the Inspector General (Operations) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to ensure immediate movement of the forces in coordination with all other forces.
