The results of the Mavelikkara Lok Sabha Constituency has been declared. Congress candidate and sitting MP Kodikunnil Suresh won the constituency with 4,40,415 votes. He won by a margin of 61,138 votes defeating Communist Party Of India (CPI) candidate Chittayam Gopakumar. Other candidates in the fray included Thollur Rajagopalan of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), an ally of BJP  Thazhava Sahadevan. Polling took place for the Mavelikkara Lok Sabha Constituency on April 23. Mavelikkara is a taluk and municipality in the Alappuzha district of Kerala. The region has a rich legacy of culture and traditions. After delimitation in 2008, the Mavelikkara constituency was reserved for the Scheduled Caste community. The constituency number of Alappuzha is 17. Mavelikkara comprises of seven assembly segments including Kuttanad, Mavelikkara, Chengannur, Changanassery, Kunnathur, Kottarakkara and Pathanapuram.

CPI (M)'s candidate Gopakumar was is MP of Adoor constituency. In 2016 Assembly elections, Sahadevan had contested from Kunnathur as an NDA candidate and secured 21,742 votes. In Mavelikkara since 1989, UDF was defeated only once by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in 2004. CPI(M)'s CS Sujatha had defeated Congress Ramesh Chennithala with a slim margin of 7,414 votes. Later in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kodikunnil Suresh defeated CPI's Chengara Surendran and BJP's Adv. P Sudheer by a large margin. In 2016 assembly elections,  five of the seven assembly segments in the Mavelikkara Lok Sabha constituency were won by the Left parties.

The Lok Sabha elections 2019 was held between April 11 and May 19 in seven phases. In Kerala, voting was held in a single phase. During the third phase, the polling was held in 115 Lok Sabha constituencies of 14 states. The counting of votes was held on May 23 and thereafter the results were declared.
