Lucknow, May 6: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday gave another hint at her prime ministerial ambition, saying she may have to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar constituency if "all goes well". Mayawati had represented the Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha seat four times in past - 1989, 1998, 1999 and 2004.

"If all goes well, I may have to seek election from here because the road to national politics passes through Ambedkar Nagar," Mayawati said while addressing a public meeting in Ambedkar Nagar. Targetting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BSP chief added: "The era of 'Namo Namo' is over and the time has come for those who chant 'Jai Bhim'." ‘Mahagathbandhan’ Vote Will Go to Congress in Amethi, Rae Bareli, Says BSP Supremo Mayawati.

This is not the first time that Mayawati had thrown her hat in ring for the prime ministerial post. In April, she said that she would use the experience she has gained as Uttar Pradesh chief minister to give the "best government" at the Centre "if we get an opportunity". She said she has been Uttar Pradesh chief minister four times. Mayawati is 'Gundi' of Uttar Pradesh, Says Brij Bhushan Singh.

"I have a lot of experience. I will use that experience at the Centre and work for people’s welfare," she had said. Mayawati in March had announced that she will not contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. She, however, had laid stress that if needed, post elections, she can easily make her way to Lok Sabha by asking one of her MP's to vacate a seat for her.

Mayawati's new ally and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has also endorsed her for the top post. "The gathbandhan (alliance) will give the country its next Prime Minister and I would be very happy if it comes from the other half of the population (women). If that happens, the Samajwadi Party will give its full support," Yadav said.
