Usually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to a place would entail security measures like surveying the place and ensuring that no threat is caused to the security of the Prime Minister. But this time, monkeys and snakes in Uttarakhand’s Forest Research Institute (FRI) have found themselves on the wrong side due to the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the district magistrate of Dehradun SA Murugeshan instructed the forest department to clear the area of any threat including snakes and monkeys in the sprawling campus.

Murugeshan was quoted saying by the newspaper that he has ordered to keep the venue free from snakes, monkeys and trees or branches that can fall and the forest department was told to take necessary steps.

Rajeev Dhiman, divisional forest officer of Dehradun, has said that the department’s staff is in the process of scanning the area to find out about the wild animals who can cause any kind of trouble.

He also said that all this was done to ensure that the participants do not face any inconvenience due to the dense forests in the campus. Dhiman has said that so far no monkeys have been spotted near the Prime Minister’s supposed visit spot.
