New Delhi, April 29: Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advice to ministers and party members to refrain from making comments on every issue in order to not give masala (sound bite) to the media, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and ministers keep giving comments which not only provides masala to the media but also to the people. And one is left wondering as to where the ministers get the courage and audacity to make outrageous claims with such confidence and gallantry. The latest to join the list is Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.

Minister Goyal is being trolled on Twitter for sharing a NASA post and celebrating the statement given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who earlier claimed that all the villages in India now have electricity and that the government has achieved what it had promised when it came to power. Minister Piyush Goyal shared the images on Twitter claiming that "India has finally been able to electrify all its villages..." and the before and after images were clearly used to distinguish Modi government's achievement from the past.

According to reports, the images shared by Piyush Goyal were actually images of India and was released by NASA. But the context in which Minister Piyush Goyal shared the image was misleading as it did not show the before (Modi government) and post (Modi government) electricity availability in India but was a pattern of human settlement.

But it was too good to be true and Twitterzens came forward to counter his claim. Here are the tweets that mocked Goyal's claim:

There are many tweets which have taken a potshot on the minister's claim.

The fact that fake news is shared and spread by a minister in the government is unfathomable and should not be tolerated especially at times when the Fake news mannace has taken over social media. But in this instance, Twitter users showed that it's difficult to get away by making any random outrageous claims by sharing out of context images. To paraphrase the old saying, this one could not fly over the fake news nest.
