As per the affidavit filed before the by-election, Kishor's personal movable and immovable assets were valued at over INR 96 crore, while Dr. Jahnavi Das held a comparatively larger share, with assets worth roughly INR 101.93 crore.
Breakdown Of The Family's Declared Wealth
Kishor's personal assets, as declared in the affidavit, reportedly include cash deposits, bonds, and mutual funds, taking his wealth past the INR 96 crore mark, according to NDTV.
Dr. Jahnavi Das's assets, on the other hand, include significant unlisted corporate equity, with a major stake in Vedhas Ventures Private Limited forming a key part of her portfolio. The couple's property holdings, as listed in the affidavit, span residential and commercial real estate in New Delhi's Vasant Vihar, Patna, and Ghaziabad, along with a dismantled rice mill in Rohtas, Bihar, valued at INR 9.75 crore.
The affidavit also recorded total family liabilities and bank loans in the range of INR 5.77 crore to INR 6.3 crore.
From First-Time Candidate To Winner
The Bankipur seat, previously held by the BJP, marked Kishor's maiden electoral contest as the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party. He filed his asset declaration ahead of the polls as part of the mandatory nomination process, and has now gone on to win the seat, marking his first electoral victory. During the campaign, before the results were declared, Kishor had addressed questions around his wealth, telling the public that his multi-crore net worth was the result of years of earnings from his professional corporate consultancy work, long before he entered active politics.
Bankipur Result So Far
As per the latest figures, Kishor polled 63,203 votes, a vote share of 49.19 percent, well ahead of BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha, who secured 44,250 votes. RJD's Rekha Kumari Gupta trailed in third place with 14,085 votes. Voter turnout for the bypoll stood at 34.30 percent.
