New Delhi, December 23: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, speaking during the Congress ' protest rally against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that, "the enemies of the country tried their best to suppress this voice. Tried to destroy the progress of the country, the power of the country, tried to destroy our economy and the voice of India fought its enemies off." Gandhi said that, "Modi ji, you are not fighting the Congress party. This is not the Congress party, it is the voice of the country and you stand against the voice of the country." Sonia Gandhi Accuses Modi Govt of Using 'Brute Force' to Suppress Dissent Against Citizenship Amendment Act.

"Mr. Modi, the people of the country will not let you attack the Constitution. All of India will fight you," Gandhi thundered at the satyagrah.

Before the satyagrah, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted in the morning saying, "Dear Students and youth of India, it's not good enough just to feel India. At times like these, it's critical to show that you're India and won't allow India to be destroyed by hatred. Join me today at 3 p.m. at Rajghat, to protest against the hate and violence unleashed on India by Modi-Shah."

The Congress party had announced on Saturday that it will hold its protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on Monday at Mahatma Gandhi samadhi (memorial) at Rajghat in New Delhi. The press release had also said that, "Congress party senior leaders will undertake a satyagrah at Raj Ghat on 23rd Dec, to fight the BJP's dictatorial actions & to protect the Constitution."
