Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of interrupting his speech and silencing his microphone during a debate in Parliament on Wednesday. Writing on social media platform X, the Congress MP stated that he was blocked from raising allegations of police action against protesting students in Delhi, directly holding Union Home Minister Amit Shah responsible for the incident.

Gandhi announced he would hold a press conference at 6:00 PM today to address the details he was allegedly prevented from sharing on the floor of the House.

"Today, during my speech in Parliament, I raised the issue of the brutality inflicted on students in Delhi and named the one responsible — Home Minister Amit Shah. The BJP did not let me speak," Gandhi wrote in his post. "They can turn off the mic — but not the students' echo," he added. The confrontation unfolded during the Lok Sabha's discussion on the Public Examinations Amendment Bill. The debate follows ongoing demonstrations across the national capital by student groups over examination paper leaks and systemic education reforms. Earlier in the week, Opposition leaders criticized the central government and Delhi Police over the handling of student marches, alleging excessive force by law enforcement during demonstrations. Treasury benches strongly rejected Gandhi's allegations during the parliamentary session. Government representatives accused the Opposition of disrupting legislative business and politicizing law enforcement procedures. The upcoming 6:00 PM briefing is expected to outline the Congress party’s official stance on the Delhi student protests, the alleged police action, and the conduct of parliamentary proceedings.
