Gurugram, December 29: The Gurugram Police have got an approval from the Haryana government to probe the Robert Vadra land deal case. "We have got the approval to probe and the investigation is underway," said KK Rao, Gurugram Police Commissioner on Friday, speaking on the land deal case against Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Reacting to the development, Hooda said, "This is on the basis of a private complaint lodged on behest of Govt, there is nothing in it. Attempt to defame and play politics."

The Haryana Police had filed an FIR against Vadra and Hooda in September this year, for alleged irregularities in land deals in Gurugram. Besides Vadra and Hooda, DLF Gurugram, and Onkareshwar Properties Gurugram were also named in the FIR. The case dates back to 2008.

The FIR filed in September had stated that Vadra's company, Sky Light Hospitality, allegedly purchased land in various places in Gurugram and sold them at exorbitant prices soon after.

The case was registered under Sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), 420 (Cheating), 467 (Forgery), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Criminal Misconduct by a public servant) in Kherki Daula police station of Haryana.
