Palghar, June 10: A 42-year-old woman in Palghar, who was boarding a Virar-bound train coming from Surat, ended up slipping into the gap between the platform and train footboard. Although she survived injuries after falling into the platform gap, she passed away due to shock.

The incident was reported on Saturday. The Palghar Government Railway police has registered a case of accidental death. The deceased, identified as Tuli Vishwakarma, was enroute to Virar along with her family members to visit her brother.

When the train arrived at 10:21 pm on platform no 2, Tuli made her two children, aged 20 and 17, board the train first. Her husband Michael, boarded the neighbouring compartment due to the rush.

When Tuli attempted to get on the train after her children, she lost her balance and fall into the platform gap. Although the train was immediately stopped which prevented any injuries to her, she felt unconscious due to the shock. On being rushed to the nearby hospital, she was declared dead on arrival.
