After Met Gala 2018, it is Cannes time in May, probably the most fashionable month of the year. The 71st annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 8 and is scheduled to last until May 19. Thanks to strong Indian star line-up, the Indian fans back home closely follows the renowned film festival held at French Riviera every year. Especially the actresses’ breath-taking red carpet appearances. 2018 Cannes Film Festival is expected to be a grander affair for the country with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is a Cannes veteran of 17 years along with popular faces such as Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as ambassadors of beauty brand L’Oreal gracing the film festival. Adding more to the star power is actress Kangana Ranaut making her red carpet debut at Cannes 2018. May 10 and 11 - Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone who made an everlasting impact with her drop-dead gorgeous red-carpet appearance in the previous edition will kick off Indian parade at Cannes 2018. The 32-year-old will be walking on May 10 (Thursday) and May 11 (Friday) as L'Oreal Paris brand ambassador. Last year, Deepika had wowed fashion police and fans in two of her looks in a dark purple Marchesa Notte and an emerald green Brandon Maxwell. After failing to impress at Met Gala 2018 in Prabal Gurung red thigh-high slit gown, her fans would love to see her make a solid comeback at the French Riviera.

May 10 – Kangana Ranaut

Queen Kangana is all set to take over the Cannes with her maiden show. The 31-year-old is another big name after Deepika Padukone to walk the red carpet on May 10. Kangana is at Cannes Film Festival as the brand ambassador of a liquor brand Grey Goose. The Manikarnika actress has already flown off to France on Thursday. For her debut Cannes appearance, Kangana will be styled by Kolkata-based fashion designer Sabyasachi.

On being questioned over her Cannes debut and decision to opt for Sabyasachi, Kangana was quoted saying, “Sabya is the best we have, and he is creating an Indian and a few other international looks for me. I want to look my best but not look the best there. I want the attire to enhance my look. Impact is not the intention.” Well Said, Queen Kangana!

May 10 – Huma Qureshi and Jim Sarbh

Along with Kangana Ranaut, actress Huma Qureshi and Jim Sarbh are also going to be the part of Grey Goose Celebration of iconic moments in Film at Cannes Film Festival. In a statement, Huma said, “I’m very proud to be part of the celebration of cinema at a global platform like the Cannes Film Festival 2018. Grey Goose is a brand that represents both excellence and the desire for perfection. It gives me great pleasure to accompany Grey Goose as it toasts the iconic films of this year.”

May 12 and 13 – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The real Queen of Cannes, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be walking at the Cannes 2018 red carpet on May 12 and 13. The ongoing edition will mark the 44-year-old’s 17th appearance at the French Riviera. As L’Oreal’s most popular brand ambassador, get ready to be bowled over by Aishwarya Rai’s charismatic show in France. And also, not be missed will be her daughter Aaradhya, 6, accompanying her star mother for the event.

May 14 and 15 – Sonam Kapoor

Cannes 2018 will mark the first red carpet appearance for Sonam Kapoor post marriage. As L’Oreal brand ambassador, the 32-year-old will be completing eight years at Cannes and is expected to amp up her style quotient especially as Sonam will as walk as Mrs Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. The Veere Di Wedding actress got married to Delhi-based fashion entrepreneur Anand Ahuja on May 8, and we can expect her husband to accompany her to the French Riviera.

Apart from the above names, Cannes 2018 will see more of Indian celebrities such as National Award winner Divya Dutta. She will also make her debut Cannes appearance to represent Manto, a biographical directorial by renowned Indian actress-filmmaker Nandita Das on Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto. Veteran actress Neena Gupta will walk the red carpet at Cannes wearing outfit designed by her famous fashion designer daughter Masaba Gupta.

In fact, an ‘India Day’ will be organised at the 71st edition of the Cannes International Film Festival on May 11 to bring together the French and Indian film industries. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Smriti Irani will be in Cannes on May 9 to inaugurate the India Pavilion, organised in partnership with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to provide a platform for stakeholders to market their films, as per PTI reports.

South superstar actor and Sonam Kapoor’s Dhanush will also be in Cannes. He is making his international movie debut with an Indo-French co-production The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. Famed fashion designer Manish Malhotra will be at the French Riviera for he is collaborating with renowned designer Alexander Wang for supermodel Bella Hadid’s Cannes 2018 outfit. Actress Tillotama Shome and Michelin-star chef Vikas Khanna are also going to be at Cannes film festival 2018. Get ready for the best show of Indian star power this edition.
