Traditional buy-and-hold investing is pretty basic; you buy a stock and hope to sell at a higher price at some point in the future. With options, you basically rent a stock and bet on its price movement within a specific time frame. So you not only need to be right on the direction of the stock price, it has to happen within a set time frame.
