Chaka Khan, Cher, Carlos Santana, Paul Simon, Fela Kuti and Whitney Houston were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy at the Grammys Special Merit Awards on January 31. Chaka Khan was the only Lifetime Achievement recipient who attended the ceremony in LA on the eve of the main Grammy Awards ceremony on February 1.
