In a move to end over a decade of administrative ambiguity, the Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The legislation formally recognizes Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh, effective retrospectively from June 2, 2024.
