The West Bengal government on Saturday evacuated thousands of people in South 24 Parganas and Purba Medinipur districts and urged tourists in popular sea resorts to stay away from beaches, as cyclone ‘Jawad' loomed large over the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast.
