ONGC has commenced gas production from its USD 1 billion Daman Upside Development Project in the Arabian Sea. The move aims to mitigate India's LPG shortage caused by West Asian conflicts. Completed in under two years, the project targets domestic energy self-reliance by reducing the country's 50 per cent dependence on natural gas imports.
