A sitting MLA from Mau assembly seat, Mukhtar Ansari has been lodged in jail since 2005 for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. More than 40 cases had been lodged against him at a single police station in the Ghazipur district. The five-time MLA has been acquitted in a number of cases.
