The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said petrol and diesel prices will remain unchanged, as the excise duty cut will not be passed on to consumers. Instead, it will reduce losses of state-run firms like Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation supplying fuel below cost.
