The rates have been on an upward movement from the start of this month. The unseasonal rains in Maharashtra destroyed the crops and as a result of which, the prices have soared. In Kolkata, the onion price climbed to over Rs 100/kg mark, and in several local vegetables, markets onion was sold for Rs 120 a kg or even more.
