Singh is the block-level president of the BJP in Unnao, the hometown of the 19-year-old victim who has alleged that she was raped in 2017 by Sengar. The former is also the son-in-law of Uttar Pradesh minister Ranvendra Pratap Singh, who is serving as the minister in charge of agriculture, agriculture education and research in the Yogi Adityanath-led government.
