According to the Hindu calendar, Dol Purnima is observed on the fifteenth day of Phalgun month. It falls in February or March month of the Gregorian calendar. This day is also observed as the birth anniversary of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who was the founder of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Therefore it is a significant festival for the people of Bengali Sampradaya of Gaudiya.
