According to the Women's Danger Index, India ranks 9th in the list of most unsafe countries in the world for solo women travellers. South Africa is at the top of the list. Croatia has been rated as one the safest countries to walk on the street and America has been ranked as the worst in the West for its homicide rates and intimate partner violence.
