November 7 is celebrated as Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman, more popularly known as CV Raman's birth anniversary. Born in the year 1888 in the Madras Province in India (now the state of Tamil Nadu), the Indian physicist held an important position in the world of physics. The Nobel laureate carried out some ground-breaking work in the field of light scattering for which he received the prestigious Nobel Prize in 1930 in Physics.
