Epic Games is laying off 1,000 employees, or 20% of its workforce, due to a decline in Fortnite engagement and rising operational costs. CEO Tim Sweeney apologised for the move, which is accompanied by USD 500 million in broader cost-cutting measures. Affected staff will receive at least four months of severance pay as the company seeks to stabilise its finances.
