A powerful unexplained boom that shook homes and buildings across Massachusetts and Rhode Island in the US on May 30 has been linked to a meteor explosion in the atmosphere. NASA said the meteor was travelling at 75,000 mph and fragmented about 40 miles above northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire, releasing energy equivalent to 300 tons of TNT and causing loud sonic booms.
