New Instagram Font Goes Viral: Brands and Users Join Wordmark Parody Trend After 1st Redesign in a Decade (See Posts)
Instagram has refreshed its wordmark after a decade with a hybrid print and cursive style. The change has gone viral as ChatGPT, Coinbase, Beebom, Delhi Police and other brands posted their names in the new font. Reactions remain mixed, with some joking the redesign looks like “Instagzam.”
New Instagram fonts have prompted social media accounts and brands to redesign their names and logos in the updated style, turning a simple platform refresh into a widespread creative trend across feeds. Instagram has updated its wordmark for the first time in nearly a decade, replacing the long standing cursive script with a hybrid style that blends print and cursive elements. The change, announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, has quickly gone viral as users and brands recreate their own names in the new font.
Instagram New Wordmark Refresh Details
Mosseri described the previous design as dated and said the refresh is cleaner and more modern while still referencing the original. The multicoloured camera logo remains unchanged. The new letterforms, particularly around letters such as s, r and g, have prompted jokes that the name now looks like “Instagzam.” Instagram New Logo: Meta's Platform Unveils Refreshed Wordmark but Does It Have Same Charm?.
