The boy revealed what exactly happened during that moment in a report published by Twincities. The seventh-grader at Derby Academy in Hingham, Mass said he was recording and raced to open the camera app on his iPhone. Ryan was quoted saying, “My phone started blowing up. “It died, like, instantly after it happened. We had friends from all over reaching out. I couldn’t believe it.” He added, “I just thought to myself, ‘I’ll never get this opportunity again in my whole life.” McKenna said. “I just went for it.” And that’s how little Ryan became one of the biggest meme of the year.
