Sukhpal, who married Rin's mother Sachie Takahata in Japan in 2002, had returned to India in 2007 after their marriage faced challenges. Rin’s search was inspired by a college assignment to create a family tree. Despite past difficulties, Rin’s arrival was welcomed by Sukhpal’s current wife, Gurvinderjit Kaur, and their daughter Avleen, who tied a rakhi on her newfound brother. Rin expressed his desire to continue visiting his father and hopes his parents will reunite at least once.
