Sukhpal Singh's life took a surprising turn when his Japanese son, Rin Takahata, arrived in Amritsar after 19 years. Rin, a 21-year-old student from Osaka University of Arts, traced his father with just an old address and photographs, eventually finding him on Loharka Road. The emotional reunion occurred on August 18, a day before Raksha Bandhan. Sukhpal, who married Rin's mother Sachie Takahata in Japan in 2002, had returned to India in 2007 after their marriage faced challenges. Rin’s search was inspired by a college assignment to create a family tree. Despite past difficulties, Rin’s arrival was welcomed by Sukhpal’s current wife, Gurvinderjit Kaur, and their daughter Avleen, who tied a rakhi on her newfound brother.
