A day after a Class IX girl died after eating chicken shawarma at Iwins restaurant in Namakkal town, health and family welfare minister Ma Subramaniam on Tuesday ordered a departmental probe into the district designated officer of the state food safety department Dr K C Arun. He also asked authorities to check all hotels to ensure government guidelines were being followed. A team of food safety officers conducted raids at various shawarma shops in the Madurai district on Wednesday. "We inspected 90 shops & confiscated 70 kg of chicken.
