Rajasthan Youth Parliament: From Rising Suicide Counts and Paper Leaks, Students Discuss Key Issues in Indian Education System (Watch Videos)

The Rajasthan Youth Parliament convened on July 27 to discuss critical issues in the Indian education system, with a significant focus on the alarming rise in student suicides and the neglect of student health. Participants expressed concerns over inadequate facilities at coaching institutes, the qualifications of teaching faculty, and the mental stress faced by students, which has led to numerous suicides. Acting as MLAs, the students criticized the Indian government for not providing equal opportunities for those preparing for competitive exams and failing to enforce guidelines for educational institutions. One student highlighted the issue starkly, stating, "suicide count matches the fee of coaching centres," while others spoke about paper leaks and their impact on student grades. The inequalities faced by average students, compared to the special treatment of top performers, were also brought up, with claims that an IIT entrance exam paper was leaked in an extra class at a coaching centre. This Youth Parliament, held in the Rajasthan Assembly, saw 181 students from 41 schools participate, simulating the roles of various public representatives, including the chief minister.┬аRajasthan Shocker: First Year B Tech Student Commits Suicide by Jumping From 10th Floor of His Hostel in Phagwara.
