Social media influencer Ankur Chaudhary caused controversy in Kankhal in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, by distributing beer in an area where alcohol is banned. The incident, captured on video and shared online, prompted calls for legal action from religious groups and community leaders, including the Tirtha Purohit Samaj. In the video, Chaudhary is seen distributing beer to gain likes and comments, hiding bottles behind bushes and revealing the location. Kankhal, a dry zone, prohibits alcohol and non-vegetarian food. As the video went viral, police arrested Chaudhary for violating the area's restrictions. On June 19, a day after posting the "beer challenge" video, Chaudhary issued an apology, claiming ignorance of Kankhal's dry status.
