Baby Gourmet Food in Canada Recalls Banana Raisin Oatmeal Organic Whole Grain Cereal From In-Store and Online Retailers Over Possible Bacteria Contamination
The recall is possibly due to the contamination of Cronobacter. Cronobacter is a bacteria sometimes found in dry foods, such as powdered infant formula, powdered milk and herbal teas.
Baby Gourmet Foods has issued a product recall to remove Baby Gourmet Organic Banana Raisin Oatmeal Organic Whole Grain Cereal, sold in 227 grams packages, from all in-store and online retailers in Canada. The recall is possibly due to the contamination of Cronobacter. Cronobacter is a bacteria sometimes found in dry foods, such as powdered infant formula, powdered milk and herbal teas. The bacteria are said to cause severe or fatal infections to the bloodstream, central nervous system and intestines, especially in newborns. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) stated that agency test results triggered the recall. The company warns the people who possess the cereal to dispose of it immediately.
