Manisha Pande, Managing Editor at Newslaundry, took to social media to slam IndiGo after a mosquito-infested flight from Lucknow to Delhi turned her journey into an ordeal. Describing it as “maccharon ka aatank”, Pande said she spent the entire flight “scratching and swatting”, and criticised the airline’s casual response. Despite paying over INR 4,000, she said, “Not cheap. Not low-cost. Just low-effort.” IndiGo’s crew allegedly blamed the mosquito issue on open doors and offered lemongrass patches as a solution, which she called “silly.” Calling it a recurring problem, Pande shared screenshots of past similar complaints. Her post quickly went viral, prompting IndiGo to respond via X. The airline stated that aircraft are regularly fumigated and mosquito-repellent patches are used, but mosquitoes can still enter when doors are open. IndiGo added that they are working with the airport to better address the issue. Watch the video shared by Pande below. IndiGo Responds
We're also coordinating with the airport to address this effectively. While we take every precaution, we hope you understand that mosquitoes can still enter through open doors. 2/3
