In a historic achievement, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) became the first venue to host 300 international matches. The historic milestone was achieved during the first ODI match of the three-match series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. After Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Australia's Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) has hosted 291 international matches, followed by the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) with 287 international games. Sharjah Cricket Stadium has witnessed many memorable moments, including Sachin Tendulkar's famous 'desert storm' innings in April 1998 during the Coca-Cola Cup.
