Coming off the bench, Lautaro Martinez became the hero for Argentina as he scored on Giovani Lo Celso’s through ball. He went on to hug Lionel Messi, who was taken off due to injury in the second half. The emotional video went viral quickly. Messi was seen crying after being subbed off, but the team once again delivered for their influential captain as Argentina retained the title. This is Argentina’s sixteenth Copa America title and they become only the second team to win two continental championships with a World Cup in between.
