The star Argentine continued his good form for Inter Miami, taking them to another final after winning the Leagues Cup 2023 tournament. Lionel Messi set up both of Leonardo Campana's goals and also scored in the penalty shootout to help his team secure the win.
Lionel Messi continued to impress for Inter Miami as he registered two assists to help his side beat FC Cincinnati on penalties to enter the U.S. Open Cup 2023 final on Thursday, August 24. The Argentina star first set up a goal in the 68th minute which Leonardo Campana headed into the net to score Inter Miami's first goal after they were 0-2 down. Josef Martinez then drew level for Inter Miami in the 93rd minute. The game had more drama in it with Campana once again pouncing on a Messi assist to put Miami in front and Cincinnati bounced back with Yaya Kubo scoring in the second half of extra-time.
