Asian Games 2018 also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games is only a couple of weeks away and the excitement levels amongst the fans is on the rise. The Indian contingent with 541 members is scheduled to compete in 37 sports events at the 18th edition of Asian Games, which will take place in Jakarta and Palembang, in Indonesia, this time. The multi-nation sports tournament will begin from August 18 and will continue until September 2. In 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, India had won a total of 57 medals, including 11 gold, 10 silver and 36 bronze medals. Asian Games 2018: Indonesian President Joko Widodo Invites Kim Jong-un to Attend Opening Ceremony.

For India, they will be participating for the 18th time at the Asian Games. The Indian contingent comprises of 541 athletes in total, of which 293 athletes are males and 248 athletes are females. Led by sprinting queen Hima Das, athletics with a total of 51 players will see maximum participation in any discipline at the prestigious quadrennial event. It It will be followed by hockey which has 36 players under the category. India is also sending a strong 20-player Badminton team with the likes of Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth eyeing gold medal finish. As India is all set to participate in the Asian Games 2018, we take a look at the athletes participating in different sports discipline.

The stakes are very high for the visiting Indian contingent. With a total of 57 medals, India had finished at eighth position in the medal table that was topped by China with 345 medals. India has proven themselves in several disciplines in the Commonwealth Games 2018 held in Australia like in Table Tennis, Shooting, Weightlifting and Wrestling. They will look forward to bettering their previous edition's record at the upcoming Jakarta Palembang 2018.
