Bhagat Singh 112th Birth Anniversary: Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina And Others Members From Sports Fraternity Pay Homage To The National Hero

Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina led sports fraternity on paying tributes and wishing freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on his 112th birth anniversary. Former Indian international and cricketer-turned-politician Gambhir remembered the revolutionary fighter and quoted a famous line from Bhagat Singh, who sacrificed his life for India the country at a young age of 23. Popularly known as Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, the revolutionary fighter was given a death sentence for plotting the murder of a British Superintendent. Singh and his correspondents were sentenced to death for murdering John P Saunders, a British police officer. Bhagat Singh, along with Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, had actually conspired to assassinate James Scott, a British Superintendent, after he had ordered the army to take action National Independent leader Lala Lajpat Rai. But they instead murdered Saunders following a case of mistaken identity. All three were hanged to death on March 23, 1931 in the Lahore Jail. He Was only 14 when Bhagat Singh took part in a protest. A true hero of India's struggle for independence, Bhagat Singh passed away too young but left behind a legacy for time immemorable. He was a great political thinker but radical in his approach. Singh instrumental in the non-cooperation movement and devoted his entire life to India's independence.
