Ab de Villiers and Dale Steyn are regarded as one of the best cricketers to have graced the game and their numbers speak for themselves. Both the cricketers have played a lot of cricket together for South Africa and hence share a great rapport. Another display of their close bond was seen in the Cape Town Blitz vs Tshwane Spartans match in Mzansi Super League 2019. The two Proteas legend got involved in a hilarious banter where Steyn cheekily tried to run-out De Villiers in the 13th over of the Spartans’ innings. In the second ball of the over, the former South African skipper faced a full delivery from Steyn which he drove straight down to the pacer. Steyn failed to collect the ball neatly and the batting juggernaut gave the ball back to Steyn. However, the speedster threw the ball to the stumps and funnily appealed the umpire for a run-out. The instance left anyone in splits including DE Villiers and all start laughing. Interestingly, it was Steyn only who dismissed the star batsman for 31 just two balls after that incidence.

Talking about the match, Cape Town Blitz won the toss and opted to bat. They scored 157-5 batting first which didn’t seem like a very challenging total. In total, Tshwane Spartans went to a dismal start as they lost three wickets for just 16 runs. Nevertheless, De Villiers and Petrus van Biljon tried to steady the ship and brought the innings back on track. However, after their departure, the Cape Town side put the foot on the paddle and clinched the encounter by 15 runs.
