Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Annual Player contracts were announced by the Committee of Administrators (CoA), appointed by the Supreme Court of India, on March 07, 2018. There were eyebrows raised when the BCCI announced the Annual Player Contracts lists last evening. Former India Captain MS Dhoni missed on Grade A+ contract, and fast-bowler Mohammed Shami’s contract was withheld after he was dragged into a controversy by his wife – Hasin Jahan. The BCCI’s press release stated, “The CoA was of the view that the performance and position of Indian Cricket need to be recognised with the fee structure comparable to the best in the world.” With the introduction of two new categories, it seems the BCCI is taking corrective steps, slowly but gradually, in the right direction!
