This incident occurred in the 48th over of the Sri Lankan innings. The Lankans were already down to eight wickets and were struggling to put up a respectable total on board. Chris Morris was bowling the 48th over when in the fifth delivery of the over, a swarm of bees haunted the ground leaving both sets of players, as well as, the umpires on the ground. Everyone was forced to lie down on the ground until the bees left after a short cameo appearance.

Dwaine Pretorius picked three wickets and gave away just 25 runs from his 10 overs as South Africa bundled Sri Lanka for just 203 runs. Chris Morris also chipped in with a three-wicket haul, while Kagiso Rabada took two and JP Duminy and Andile Phehlukwayo finished with one-wicket each.

Sri Lanka requires a victory to stay alive in the tournament, while South Africa have already been knocked out. Lanka has so far won two from six games while South Africa has just one victory in their kitty.
