Losing a match to Kings XI Punjab by 15 runs last night didn’t really stop the Sunrisers Hyderabad from celebrating Deepak Hooda’s birthday. Post finishing the match, the team headed to the hotel and celebrated the all-rounder’s birthday. Captain Kane Williamson too had a few words to say about Deepak and of course the match they lost.

As the ritual goes, the team sang happy birthday and one of the players held Deepak so that he could not escape. Once they were done singing, they smashed the cake on his face. The official YouTube channel of SRH shared the video of the celebrations and captioned the video, “Check out the birthday celebration of Hooda after the game yesterday. The captain also has a special message for the team and fans, watch till the end to know what he has to say about the game and our way forward.”

The team even posed for a few pictures with the birthday boy. Kane Williamson too joined the celebrations and said, “He got cake all over his face and I think it’s a nice way to celebrate his birthday. But it would have been nicer if we had won.” Kane also praised Chris Gayle for his innings. “I think we got a little slow with the ball and bat. But at the same time, Chris Gayle batted beautifully. It was a match-winning innings.”

He also said that there were a lot of positives that came from the game. “The team tried really hard and we got quite close to the total to the total they set us.” On the concluding note Kane said it’s important to move on and get into the next game.
