Right before the start of the IPL 2018, Delhi Daredevils’ bowler Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the tournament. The Protea pacer was experiencing discomfort and was feeling tight while he was playing the test match against Australia in Johannesburg. The scans revealed a lower back stress reaction injury and Rabada will have to stay out of action for three months.

Commenting on Rabada’s injury, Proteas team manager, Dr Mohammed Moosajee was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au, “Kagiso has been diagnosed with a lower back stress reaction which will rule him out of cricket action for up to three months.He will need a month’s break from all physical activity before commencing with a rehabilitation programme to get him ready for the series against Sri Lanka in July.”

The official account of ICC also revealed about Rabada remaining away from cricket. The post read, “No. 1 Test bowler @KagisoRabada25 has been ruled out for up to three months due to a lower back injury, with South Africa hoping for him to return for their trip to Sri Lanka in July.”

His replacement in the Delhi Daredevils squad is yet to be named and Rabada was bought for a whopping amount of Rs 4.2 crores. However, the team has a backup for Rabada in the form of Mohammed Shami, Chris Morris, Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan. Delhi Daredevils will start their IPL campaign on April 8 against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali and the Gautam Gambhir will handle the reins of the team.
