Afghanistan’s teenage spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman in Kings XI Punjab’s squad today turned 18. Mujeeb, born in 2001 in Khost Afghanistan, made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut last season. The spinner was retained by KXIP for IPL 2019 after his impressive performance in last season. Meanwhile, as the spinner turned 18, teammates at KXIP made it special. When Mujeeb’s KXIP teammates came to know it is his birthday, they queued to wish the young Afghanistan spinner. Australia’s Andrew Tye even lifted Mujeeb while others were surprised to know the fact he just turned 18.

Kings XI Punjab shared the video on Twitter and also dropped in birthday wishes for the spinner. “Birthdays are always special, but our KXIP family made it even more special for @Mujeeb_R88. Mujeeb featured in KXIP’s first game of this season against Rajasthan Royals and picked two wickets for 31 runs. He was however left out of the playing XI against Kolkata Knight Riders, the match KXIP lost by 28 runs.

The spinner had a prolific last season as he picked 14 wickets from 11 matches. Kings XI now take on Mumbai Indians in a home match at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on March 30 and then face Delhi Capitals at the same venue on April 01. Mujeeb is expected to be back in the playing XI for these two games.
