Team India celebrated their series whitewash over West Indies in style. The Virat Kohli-led side clean-swept the Test (2-0) and T20I (3-0) series and also blanked the hosts 2-0 in the ODI series to complete a hugely successful trip to the Caribbean Island. Following their 257-run victory over West Indies at Kingston in Jamaica, the Indian team celebrated the birthday of two speedsters Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami. Both the cricketers – who enjoyed a fair amount of success in the Caribbean – celebrated their birthday one day after the other. “Joint birthday celebrations of the speedsters,” said a post from the official account of the Indian cricket team. Both Ishant and Shami were seen smiling in the picture with cake-covered faces. The Indian cricket team celebrated both of their birthdays together in a joint celebration. Ishant turned 31 on September 2, 2019 (Monday), while Shami, born on September 3, 1990, turned 29. Ishant, who is India’s mainstay in Test cricket, took 11 wickets in two Test matches that included a fifer in West Indies’ opening innings of the first Test. Shami enjoyed a similar campaign and took nine wickets in the Test series, which comprised of a three-fer in the final innings.

Shami’s life outside cricket had, however, endured extreme difficulties and has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The Alipore court in Kolkata on Monday issues an arrest warrant against him and his brother on charges of domestic violence filed by his estranged wife Hasin Jahan. The birthday boy and his brother have been given 15 days’ notice to surrender. Meanwhile, his former wife Jahan came down heavily on the fast bowler and compared him to multiple rape accused Asaram Bapu and Ram Rahim.
