India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss at least first three Test matches against England. The five-match Tests series between England and India starts from August 01. Bumrah has already missed the T20 International and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against England. During the first T20I against Ireland, Bumrah suffered a thumb injury and now is currently nursing that. Bumrah’s absence apparently will be a big blow to Indian team who are looking for their first Test series win in England.

As per some reports, spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who impressed during the T20I and ODI series is likely to be drafted in the squad along with pacer Mohammed Shami who is fit again. Also as per a Cricinfo report, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is likely to receive his maiden Test call-up as uncertainty over Wriddhiman Saha’s fitness continues.

Meanwhile, Shami, who failed the mandatory yo-yo test, was left out of the ODI squad. He is expected to be named in the squad along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav as other fast bowlers. India vs England: We Need to Find Good Balance in ODI Side Before World Cup, Says Virat Kohli.

No major surprise call is expected in the Indian Test squad. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be the main spinners. It will be interesting to see if Kuldeep after being picked in the squad makes it to the playing XI or not.
